Railway Boom is a strategic economic board game set during the early days of Japan’s railway industry in the Meiji era.
Build your railway network, develop a powerful card engine, transport goods, and compete in open auctions where every bid matters. The resources you spend to win an auction are also the resources you need to grow your company, forcing you to constantly choose between immediate opportunities and long-term strategy.

🔨 How Do You Play?
The game is played over four rounds, each divided into six phases.
- 🚆 Bid for priority to acquire Locomotives and Carriages
- 🛤️ Bid to expand your railway network and build stations in new cities
- ⚙️ Bid for Development Cards that improve your engine and provide powerful abilities
- 💰 Generate income based on your company’s development
- 📦 Operate your trains, load cargo, spend coal, and activate your Carriages
- 🎯 Bid for valuable Objective multipliers that can dramatically increase your final score
The auctions are at the heart of the game. Bid too little and your opponents may take the cards and opportunities you need. Bid too much and you may leave yourself without enough resources to actually use them.
After four rounds, score your Objectives, unused resources, and the length of your railway. The player with the most Victory Points wins.
